Black Milksnakes

The black milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum gaigeae) is a solid, gentle snake reaching lengths of six to seven feet - which makes them the largest of all milksnakes. They are native to the tropical, montane (mountainous) regions of Costa Rica and Panama. As babies they are tri-colored with bands of black, red and white or yellow. But by the time they are 18 to 24 months old, they will have turned into immaculate, shiny black snakes rivaling the beauty of an Indigo snake. The young are almost as calm as the adults and seldom attempt to bite. They have voracious appetites for both mice and rats and feeding is rarely, if ever, a problem. These are among some of the easiest snakes to keep in captivity as they are hardy animals that require minimal attention but tolerate lots of handling.

We are currently working with one breeding pair of black milksnakes that we've had since they were babies. Both are solid black adults and stunning snakes.
