Crested Geckos

The crested gecko (Rhacodactylus ciliatus) is a nocturnal member of the gecko family that is native to the islands of New Caledonia, east of Australia. Its name is derived from the folds of skin on the top of its large head that resemble a "crest". It also has scales above each eye that look like eyelases, further contributing to its unique appearance. Crested geckos grow to a snout to vent length of five to six inches. They can be found in a wide range of colors, from various shades of brown to bright yellows, oranges and reds. They can also have a variety of stripes, streaks, bands and spots on their sides and back that, when combined with their array of colors, can make for some truly beautiful animals. The crested gecko's skin is quite soft to the touch and it has an adhesive pad on the tip of its tail that assists it in climbing branches. Unlike the leopard gecko if a crested gecko loses its tail, the tail does not regenerate. Its beauty, combined with the fact that it is quite docile and tolerates a moderate amount of handling, make the crested gecko an increasingly popular pet lizard.

We've got one male and several females that we use in our breeding program. All are examples of very colorful geckos that combine a variety of appearances like flame and dalmation with reds, yellows, whites and oranges.
