Jungle Carpet Pythons

This subspecie of carpet python (Morelia spilota cheynei) is native to the dense subtropical rainforests of the Atherton Tableland in Queensland, Australia. They have the smallest geographic distribution of any of the subspecies of carpet python. They are good climbers, especially when young, and can be found in trees as well as on the ground. This is a slender, medium-sized python that averages between five and seven feet in length. Females are larger than males. Jungle carpet pythons have a ringed pattern with the dark rings being wider than the pale rings. The pale rings are usually yellow to gold in coloration, with the darker rings being black or brown. While typically nippy when young, proper handling and care can produce a trusting and docile adult that can be the beautiful centerpiece of any collection.

Our breeding pair have been with us for several years. The male was born in 1999 and the female was born in 2001. Both of these animals are stunning examples of what jungle carpet pythons can look like.
